ASC’s wine education team has expertise and experiences in training over 2,000 wine professionals and enthusiasts in China since 1996. We are the first course provider of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in China since 2006, running courses and examinations up to and including the Diploma level. In addition to WSET, our extensive portfolio of professional wine courses include many prestigious wine education programs in the world such as CIVB, BIVB, A+. We are also akey supporter ofsommelier education in China.

Our Course Portfolio

WSET
Wine & Spirits Education Trust (or WSET) is a UK based educational charity that works closely with educational partners and regulatory authorities around the world to provide educational courses, some of which lead to professional qualifications widely recognized by the wine industry. WSET is now represented in over 47 countries worldwide, and the qualifications are currently available in 13 different languages.
The WSET programs administered in China are delivered by WSET Approved Tutors. In Mainland China, ASC has the largest number of WSET Approved Tutors among all wine importers.
ASC’s network of WSET centers in China joins others in WSET’s Asian network, such as Japan, Singapore, Korea and Malaysia. In 2012, ASC became the first WSET Diploma Course Provider in Mainland China, authorized by WSET headquarters in the UK.

CIVB
L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux (The Bordeaux Wine School) was created by the ConseilInter professionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB) in 1990 with the aim of bringing a better understanding of Bordeaux wines to professionals and enthusiasts.
The course allows participants to find their own way around the vast range of Bordeaux wines and to identify and communicate the tastes and sensations they experience.
Participants who pass the exam receive an official certificate issued jointly by L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux and ASC upon confirmation of attendance.

BIVB
The Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB) is a non-profit wine association. Built on the principle of each member having an equal voice, it defends and promotes the unique skills of the professions of winemaking, the négociant trade and vine growing, and the heritage of a shared passion.
The course helps participants to understand the classifications and terroirs of Bourgogne and how they influence the wines made from different micro-climates.
Participants who pass the exam will receive an official certificate issued by The Bourgogne Wine Board.

A+ Australian Wine Course
A+ Australian wine course provides professionals and enthusiasts with an increased understanding of Australian wines, focusing on the major varieties and regions.
The courses of foundation level and advanced level include a structured insight into the climate, micro-climate and geology of the regions, wine production and the current state of the industry. There will be a themed tasting of benchmark wines, inviting lively discussion throughout.
At the conclusion, participants can take the exam. Participants who pass will receive an official certificate issued by A+ Australian Wine.

Trade Customer Training
To strengthen communication with clients and help them better understand ASC’s products, we provide professional wine trainings upon their requirements, including basic wine knowledge training, wine list training, wine service training, sales skill training and etc.. Meanwhile, ASC Wine Club Courses are offered to clients from all channels and wine lovers. We would choose different topics and taste some typical wines, sharing wine culture with all guests.

Private and Corporate Training Events
Tailor-made wine courses and related wine events are also available in ASC. We have successfully cooperated with many well-known corporations and business groups on this program. Either we design wine courses with interesting topics for their VIP clients or staff, arousing people’s interest in wines and wine culture; or we help them organize wine dinners or tasting events, sharing the beauty of wine.

Internal Staff Trainings
We periodically organize internal staff trainings on theoretical knowledge, wine tasting, new item introduction, brand presentation, etc., aiming to enhance their wine knowledge and help them better understand the brands and products, which enable them to offer more professional wine recommendation and introduction to clients. In addition, representatives of many wineries cooperating with ASC will also arrange brand training and wine tasting when they visit China.

Frontline Promoter Trainings
Frontline promoters play a very important role in hypermarkets and supermarkets, providing professional advice and service for wine consumers. Our trainings help them to make them feel more confident.

Dorian Tang

National Education Director, holding (Level 4) Diploma of Wine & Spirits Educational Trust(WSET), “2014 Best Educator of the Year” from Wine Australian, one of China’s  most up-and-coming wine experts and one of the first recommended international tutors for WSET, Burgundy Wine School (BIVB), Bordeaux Wine School (CIVB), California Family Winemakers association, A+ Australian wine Academy. She has gained wide experience of wines when working as a Sommelier in USA for over five years.

Joe Ma

WSET Advanced Certificate holder, Bordeaux Trade Educator by The CIVB; Master’s Degree from China Agricultural University. He is specialized in hosting professional wine seminars and providing consulting service for clients; conducting trainings for 4- and 5-star hotels.

Chris Kong

WSET Certified Tutor / Advanced Certificate holder; CIVB Bordeaux Trade Educator; Spanish Wine Educator. Chris has more than 10 years of experience in Wine and Spirits industry. He has hosted numerous professional wine trainings, wine tastings and dinner events for many 5-star hotels and distributors in Beijing & North China. Wine and books are his passions, and he is always eager to share wine experience with others. He often attends blind tasting and food & wine paoring events for wine magazines.

Selina Tian

WSET Advanced Certificate holder, delivering WSET L1 and L2 courses. Selina conducts professional wine trainings for many 4-or 5-star hotels and high-end restaurants in Beijing, while also providing custom-made training courses for corporations and private clients. She has been hosting numerous wine tasting and dinner events, and often attends wine magazine events as judge in wine blind tastings.

WSET Certified Tutor / Advanced Certificate holder; Spanish Wine Educator, VPA Certificate and New Zealand Tutor Program certificate holder. Yucca has participated in translating Jeannie Cho Lee’s prize-winning book Asian Palate, Mastering Wines for the Asian Palate, American Wines, The World Atlas of Whisky, Huge Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book 2013, as well as The World Atlas of Wine (7th edition) and Jancis Robinson’s Wine Course.

Ronny Yi

WSET Advanced Approved Tutor, Starwood sommelier Program Tutor. Ronny has organized countless trainings for banks and multinational corperations, and international five-star hotel groups. During past few years he held wine dinners for Chateaux Palmer, Angelus, Beychevelle, Larange, Mouton in Guangzhou and Shengzhen. He studied in numerous European and North American wine regions to discover the magic of “terroir”. He excels in wine pairing with Cantonese food, and matching cigars with cognac and champagne.

Anna TAM

Holder of WSET Advanced Certificate, Miss Tam is currently the Senior Wine Educator in Shenzhen in ASC Fine Wines. During her time in ASC, she has accumulated both wine training and premium wine retail sales experience. Her footprints are found in many hotel groups, including Marriot, Starwood, Hilton, Accor and Shangri-La. Anna also specializes in hosting wine tastings in high-end retail stores. Having visted lots of vineyards in the Europe, she is happy to share her wine experience through lively and imaginative written articles as well.

Alan Tse Chi Heng

Holder of WSET Level 4 – Wine & Spirit Education Trust Diploma, Associate Member of Institute of Wine & Spirit (AIWS), WSET Certified Educator, Court of Master Sommeliers- Certified Sommelier, over 10 years of experience in high-end western restaurants and the wine industry. Alan provides WSET L1 – 3 programs and tailor-made training courses for corporate and private clients.
