Tasting note:
2001:Stick your nose in this and it says something?"I am special." Deep and generous aromas of blackberries, fresh tobacco and minerals. It's full-bodied, with big velvety tannins and a superlong finish. Like a fine cashmere sweater. Best after 2010. 2002:Bubbling over with crushed berries, currants and spices, with tobacco notes. Beautiful. Full-bodied, with gorgeously velvety tannins and a long finish of pretty fruit. This is a racy yet elegant Lafite. Classy. Best after 2010. 2004:Intense aromas of currant, coffee, toasty oak and sweet tobacco follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins, great mouthfeel and a long finish. A refined Lafite. Best after 2012. 1985:Firm and tight, with cherry and currant flavors and accents of cedar, tobacco and bell pepper. Finishes with a short, tannic aftertaste. Needs more time; try after 1999.Cabernet Challenge. 1988:Bright, crisp flavors of cranberry, raspberry and cherry are accented by stylish butter and nutmeg notes from aging in new oak barrels. A classic claret in its balance. 1998:The '98 has a very deep and dark color, and has nice cedar notes. Very persistent, very full, and well balanced. Silky touch aftertaste. Pleasant richness and is also very ample, we found some "warmth" in the middle of the mouth filling.
