
Santa Rita relaunches 120, updating its image but keeping its history alive. 120 the winery’s classic, most popular line of wines that, with 10 varieties, is also its most extensive brand.
“According to legend, 120 patriots, exhausted after a long, hard battle during the fight for Chile’s independence, reached the land belonging to Santa Rita. On that fateful night in 1814, these forces of liberty found refuge in the estate cellars. Today, within these same cellars, our award-winning 120 wines are crafted to honor their heroic character”.
The 120 brand represents 27 years of success and evolution in wine and is one of Santa Rita’s classic ranges. The winery has decided to update its image, giving it a more modern and elegant emphasis. The new label displays a clean, easy to read design that maintains the 120 logo and preserves the basic elements of the original design in a balance of classic and modern styles where the 120’s history stands out. The new range will be sold in lighter (420 gram) bottles with screw caps.
In the words of 120 exclusive and recently assumed winemaker, Carlos Gatica, “Crispness and consistency are the watchwords of the Santa Rita 120 range. With Santa Rita’s extensive and diverse vineyards in many of Chile’s winegrowing valleys, we can source fruit that will provide the best varietal expression.”
The wines are young, elegant and fruity wines with a perfect balance of smooth tannins and good acidity. An exceptional “Best Value”, “120” offers outstanding quality in each variety. New trendsetting blends and varieties are being introduced constantly as “Limited Editions” to match consumer preferences. The range currently includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Viogner, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé and Carménère varieties.

THE STORY OF SANTA RITA 120
According to legend, 120 patriots, exhausted after a long, hard battle during the fight for Chile’s independence, reached the land belonging to Santa Rita. On that fateful night in 1814. Doña Paula Jaraquemada gave them refuge in the winery’s cellars. When the pursuing Spanish soldiers arrived at the house, the spirited matriarch told them she would rather see the estate burned to the ground than let them set foot within her family home. Thanks to her bravery, the 120 soldiers regained their strength and continued their fight for Chile’s Independence. Chilean Independence was signed finally February on 12th 1818.
