Burgenland – lies to the east of Austria, along the border with Hungary. The autumn is long and warm, possibly the warmest wine region in Austria. With the moist given by the shallow lake – Neusiedl lake, so much noble rot affect bunches and make them looks as they have been dipped in ash. Similar to the Sauterne and Barsac from Bordeaux, the climate breeds the excellent Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese wines, which could challenge the best from the world – Sauterne. Chardonnay and Welschriesling are particularly successful in this region.

Kracher is the leading dessert wine producer in this area. Being cited as ‘often mentioned alongside the famed Chateaux d’Yquem’, Kracher not only produces top quality dessert whites and dry reds, but also setups a sweetness system for labeling, which classified from the most dry to the most sweet wine from No.1 to No. 7.
