Wine lovers in Shanghai will have a very special place to call their own when The Wine Residence by ASC Fine Wines opens the doors to its exquisitely restored 1906 clubhouse in December 2007.

A Town Club for Wine Lovers

The beautiful red brick mansion will operate as a classic town club, with a strong focus on wine appreciation and education. Club members can maintain their own wines in perfect condition in the club’s underground wine cellar, or select from 2,000 of the world’s best wines in the section of the cellar reserved for ASC Fine Wines, China’s leading importer of premium wines and the operator of The Wine Residence.

The Wine Residence’s location, near People’s Square in central Shanghai, is sure to attract the city’s cosmopolitan wine lovers, and its stunning clubhouse evokes the elegance of the days when Shanghai was known as the “Paris of the East”.

Wine Education in a Refined Setting

While members will have the run of the historic clubhouse and cellar, its extensive wine library and private rooms, part of The Wine Residence will be open to the wine-loving public and to the wine trade (fine hotels and restaurants). Wine education will be an important focus of the club, with expert wine educators from ASC Fine Wines offering a range of diploma classes, for beginners and experts, from the WSET (Wine & Spirits Education Trust) program.

The Wine Residence will usher in a new era in the history of wine appreciation in China. Its extensive resources will include a wine library, an excellent choice of snacks and full meals, and even a wine museum with a collection of wine-related items from around the world. With only 180 private wine cellar lockers available, membership will be available only to a select group who appreciate the finer things in life and are fortunate enough to secure a place at what promises to be the most elegant town club in Shanghai.
